Welcome to Holy Names

Welcome to Academy of the Holy Names in Albany, New York—the Capital Region’s only all-girls, private, Catholic, Grades 6 through Grade 12 college-preparatory school. Holy Names is one of a distinguished international network of schools sponsored by the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary, whose presence is felt throughout the world.

At Academy of the Holy Names, we are committed to the core values of our founding order: self-respect and respect for others, responding to the needs of others, especially the poor and disadvantaged, and embracing the challenge to do our best and bring out the best in each of our students. We believe in the full development of the Human Person. We seek to graduate confident young women who can change the world by becoming confident leaders in service to others, skillful builders of a better world and crafters of peace.

Our program begins at the Middle School level with a supportive faculty who are experts at bringing out each student’s special talents and growing her self-esteem. The curriculum is fully supported at all levels and students have access to high school courses, academic advisors and our award-winning sports programs.

Then, it’s onward to our High School—a school with a reputation for graduating confident young women who are ready to take the next step towards a full life.  You can be certain that your daughter will be afforded every opportunity to be successful in any arena she chooses to make her own.

At Academy of the Holy Names, we challenge each student to do her personal best every day. We celebrate achievement and individuality and encourage students to embrace challenge; we emphasize faith, respect, love and service to others. We value success and accomplishment and recognize that they are not the same for every student. Holy Names is not like other schools, and we are proud of that.

I invite you to learn more about Holy Names through the pages of this website. Then, I invite you to visit our beautiful campus. Spend a day in the Middle School or the High School; attend a musical production or athletic event and experience our welcoming community for yourself. To make arrangements, contact our Director of Admissions, Ann Rento, at 518-438-7895 ext. 202 or at arento@ahns.org.

We hope to see you here!
Mary Anne Vigliante, Head of School
