Our athletic program strives to teach students physical and mental skills, self-discipline, and sportsmanship while motivating athletes to strive for excellence. We provide a supportive and competitive atmosphere so that our student-athletes flourish and grow. We're also able to offer a higher level of involvement for students than most schools can achieve.

We currently have approximately 65% of our student body participating in athletics.

Our experienced coaches prepare their teams for competition while helping individual athletes progress to the next level in their athletic development. We have an impressive record of championship teams, especially for a small school.

Holy Names offers 12 sports programs and competes in the Colonial Council League with member schools of Section 2 of the NYSPHSAA (New York State Public High School Athletic Association).  NYSPHSAA is the state-wide organization of schools responsible for governing interscholastic athletic activities and programs for boys and girls in grades 7-12.

Junior varsity and varsity sports teams are comprised of students in grades 9 through 12. In some cases, students in grades 7 and 8 may be considered. According to NYSPHSSA rules for all schools, 6th-grade students are not allowed to compete on JV.
