Academics

High School

It’s not like other schools. No one is a stranger here. You can build real relationships with your teachers. They get to know you as a person, not as just another student, and they want to see you succeed.

Participate, Grow, & Excel

Here’s what we believe about our girls: There are no bystanders – only participants. That’s why we give them every opportunity to participate, grow and excel.

Here’s what you can achieve here with us:
  • The ability to lead
  • The confidence to succeed
  • The kind of academic success that gets noticed by the top colleges

We make this happen through small classes where you are heard and personally challenged, and through a comprehensive guidance program that will help you put together an academic plan that fits who you are and where you want to go.

Today’s world is fast-paced and changing and our students are made ready to face this challenge. In courses that carry college credit, they see how they can rise to the next level. In fact, course work and projects across all departments encourage students to develop college-level research, writing and speaking skills.

Students accomplish this challenging academic program with a strong support network. Teachers make themselves readily available both in and outside the classroom. Class sizes are small, so students feel comfortable raising questions and exploring new ideas. Additional support and encouragement are always available through academic advisors and our comprehensive guidance program.

Our students are being prepared for success in college, as well as the leadership roles many will take in their lives.

We’re all in this together. The sense of shared commitment to each student’s success is a hallmark of Academy of the Holy Names.

Outside the classroom, you will find the clubs, sports and community service activities that will make your school life exciting and full. Because along with preparing you for academic success, as a faith-based college preparatory school we assist our girls in their spiritual and emotional growth as well. Our graduates are ready to succeed inside and outside the classroom.

Our high school offers lots of options for success including

  • Our University in High School program, offered through the State University of New York, that grants college credit for successful completion of French and Spanish IV and V, Psychology, Science Research, and Calculus.
  • Our Advanced Placement courses that provide another option for students who want to further optimize their high school experience.
  • Our Science Research program that offers a structure in which students can conduct real-world research and chase their passion with the support of mentors who are experts in their fields.
  • Internships available to our seniors in a variety of workplaces, that provide them a special opportunity to explore career choices, as well as develop the responsible work habits required for success.
