AHN Academic Challenge Bowl

Academic Challenge Bowl

A quiz bowl academic competition where team members have an opportunity compete against other local middle school teams.

Academy Courier

Academy Courier is the student newspaper published at least two times during the year. Students at all grade levels are welcome to join the staff.

Ambassadors Club

Members are selected to serve as tour guides for prospective students and as speakers at area grade schools to encourage students to choose Academy of the Holy Names.

AHN Black Student Alliance

Black Student Alliance

This organization promotes student growth and development through diversity academics, and community outreach. This organization will provide an opportunity for all students to celebrate black culture, lifestyle, and history.

Chess Club

The Chess Club gives students an opportunity to play a friendly game of chess against their peers in a low-stress environment. Students of all skill levels are invited to participate. If a student does not know how to play chess but would like to learn, other members will happily teach the fundamentals of the game.

Communications Club

Communications Club provides students in all grade levels the opportunity to collaborate, pitch, and produce content for AHN’s various social media platforms. Students also have access to AHN’s Innovation Lab and the WAHN Panther Vision studio, which live-streams morning announcements.

Drama Club at AHN

Drama Club (MS & HS)

Drama Club is a place for all students to explore theatre and the various aspects that go into play production, including, set design and construction, costumes, props, make-up, and promotional tools and tactics. Club members also play an integral role in facilitating the production process for both the fall show and spring musical. Members also have the opportunity to participate in a variety of drama games and exercises to encourage creativity and build an ensemble among the group.

Environmental Club

Members promote environmental awareness by sponsoring related activities and fundraisers. The club is responsible for organizing the school’s recycling program.

French Club meets to share and enjoy French language and culture.

High School Pep Club

Pep Club is an organization established to support and enhance school spirit at Academy of the Holy Names by recognizing excellence among our students and promoting activities that instill school spirit.

High School Student Council

This student government organization consists of delegates from each grade level. Members represent the student body and address concerns using the democratic process. Students gain valuable leadership and decision-making skills through
their participation. Student Council sponsors and organizes events and activities to promote school spirit at Holy Names. This highly active group conducts numerous fundraisers to support its efforts.

Inkwell

Inkwell is the Middle School’s literary and art journal. Participation is open to all Middle School students. The staff produces its publication in the spring.

Interscholastic Sports

Interscholastic sports promote the values of sportspersonship and physical fitness which are held in high esteem at Holy Names. The school fields interscholastic teams in the following sports: golf, soccer, swimming, cross-country, volleyball, basketball, indoor and outdoor track, tennis, softball, cheerleading, and lacrosse. All students are welcome to try out. Holy Names is a member of Colonial Council and Section 11.

Junior Ladies of Charity is the student arm of the Ladies of Charity, a national organization devoted to service to the less fortunate.

Masterminds

A quiz bowl academic competition. Members of the team compete against other local high schools.

Mental Health Awareness Club

Members work to increase awareness and acceptance of mental health issues. The club organizes events and activities to promote positive mental health for our school community.

Middle School Yearbook

This is the Middle School’s record of the school year, and gives students a chance to showcase their creativity through design and photo selection.

Mock Trial

Students participate in rehearsed trials to learn about the legal system and compete against other schools to demonstrate their skills.

Multicultural Club

Multicultural Club fosters awareness and appreciation of human diversity within all cultures. The club sponsors activities designed to educate others about the unique cultural differences that exist in our school and in the broader community. The club welcomes members from all classes.

Peer Leadership

Peer leaders are trained in relationship building, conflict resolution, peer mediation, and communication skills. They meet regularly to develop skills, discuss issues, and plan activities to support a positive school climate.

Profile

Profile is the High School’s yearbook produced by a staff limited to members, the senior class. The staff relies primarily on donations in the form of advertisements to produce the book.

Puzzlemania

A fun opportunity for middle school students to explore puzzles of all kinds!

Red Cross Club

The Red Cross Club is an extension of the local Red Cross. Therefore, aside from opportunities for training and leadership development, members have the ability to choose mission-related activities that address the community’s needs, while delivering the lifesaving services of the Red Cross. Members plan and implement projects that can save hundreds of lives from blood drives to disaster preparedness education.

Ski Club at AHN

Ski Club

Students who enjoy skiing or snowboarding may participate in Ski Club. Experience is not a requirement; lessons are available for beginners.

Spectrum

Spectrum is the literary/art journal. It is open to all High School students. The staff produces the annual journal in the spring. It is composed of pieces of writing and art from students and faculty.

Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD)

SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) is focused on empowering teens and providing the tools they need to become leaders and role models who live healthy, safe, and substance-free lives. Although SADD’s main focus is on traffic safety (drinking/using drugs/texting and driving, and seat belt use), we are also committed to raising awareness of other teen issues such as substance abuse, depression, suicide, and bullying. SADD is also committed to giving back to the community through a variety of service projects.

AHN School Musical

The School Musical

Students lend their singing, dancing, and acting talents to the production of the musical. All students are invited to audition. Recent productions have included Wind in the Willows, Meet Me in St. Louis, Anything Goes, Cinderella, The Sound of Music, A Grand Night for Singing, The Melody Lingers On, Oklahoma!, Secret Garden, Once Upon a Mattress, Cats, Oliver!, Godspell, Little Women, Shout!, Tarzan, Beauty and the Beast, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Mary Poppins, Willy Wonka, and The Wizard of Oz.

Throne of Games

This club focuses on fostering a love of all things games, from board games to tabletop games, to videogames. Students of all skill levels can join Throne of Games and students can participate in all activities. We focus on having fun,
building teamwork, and problem-solving while playing various types of games.
